Kristen’s Pick: Al Pallanti, Burlington County Commissioner
Running Mates: John Adams for Commissioner, Dr. Deb Buzby-Cope, Burlington County Surrogate
At that same event where I met Al’s running mate, Deb, I also met Al. He was happily circulating among the crowd, sharing greeting, smiles, and exuding a calm confidence. Once I learned he too was a candidate, it was easy to see why he will make an excellent County Commissioner.
Among the various functions of a Board member for each County Commission, the Board members serve as leaders of the included municipalities, ensured the cost-savings and economies of scale are achieved in shared-services programs run by the County. New Jersey is traditionally a “home rule” State, with each municipality operating its own budgets for all essential services, as well as maintaining individual School Districts. Home rule is an excellent way for NJ residents to feel connected to the local government decision-making process, and it allows communities to reflect their preferences in a much more locally-based manner. Still, certain services are best contracted for in a larger service area, such as a recycling contract by county, in order to achieve cost-savings through pooling of resources.
County Commissioners ensure the coordination of these services with each local government. Sounds like no easy task, but with the interpersonal skills and professional experiences Al brings to the County, I believe he is the man for the job.
Meet Al Pallanti…
Kristen: Why are you running?
Al: To give back to the community. After a long and successful career, it's time to give back.
One regret I have is not joinging the US Armed Forces. I felt it was my duty to serve and I went in a different direction. As this is my first time running for office, I have an opportunity to give back locally, for the good of our community.
My many years of Government, Education and Private Sector Experience make me the perfect candidate to move Burlington County forward. If given the privilege to serve as a Commissioner for Burlington County, I will donate my salary back to the county through 2023.
Kristen: What is your stance on parental choice for medical freedom in schools?
Al: Parents should have a strong stance to make decisions for their children. Number one, they are the parents, they know their children best and give guidance and support to their children as they grow through the K-12 years. Number two, Parents are the taxpayers and keep the schools open, pay salaries etc. The schools are public sector facilities and they are answerable to the parents.
I believe the Parents and School Boards need to collaborate and build a consensus on policy. Manadating a policy without insight from parents is not a productive path for the good of the students.
Kristen: What is your favorite amendment?
Al: The 1st Amendment is my Favorite...Freedom of speech is the key to a strong Democracy.
Kristen: Give me your best pitch on why and how we can support your campaign?
Al: Education is the key to a successful community and country, but everyone needs to be included in the conversation to be successful. Supporting me brings a new person with new ideas to Burlington County’s leadership.
This is not a stepping-stone career move for me to self promote and to prepare for future elected positions. This is my final goal, to be elected a Burlington County Commissioner. My commitment is to always put the residents of Burlington County first.
To help my campaign, visibility is the key. Social Media/Media support will be essential to a victory on November 2nd.

Editor’s Note: Even after seeing my wild sons in action, Deb, Al and John invited me to join them for a campaign photo shoot with my children. They were patient and relaxed, and genuinely interested and supportive of policy goals I discussed with them about the health and happiness of our school children. I hope to see them succeed in this campaign. They reflect the type of public servant we can trust: not seeking personal financial gain, but rather ready to lead and listen in service to their communities.
