Clinton Twp Calls SRO's Racist

In the threat of school shootings, parents are looking for ways to make schools safer for children, one great way to do this is to include resource officers in the school.

Mr Hornick from Clinton Twp. School District disagrees with including resource officers that they need more councilors and less resource officers to make the student’s “feel safer.” He’s More concerned about equity than keeping your children safe. Police are mandated to take equity training, so his complaints about police not understanding equity is completely unwarranted.

He makes statistical claims that School Resource Officers often target Black, LGBT and students with disability’s for more suspensions and detentions. He makes the claim that officers target children for petty offences that prevent them from going to college. That sounds like a school policy problem NOT a school resource officer problem.

And like everyone else who quotes “BLM” rhetoric, Mr Hornick gives no source for his data while he continues to bash police officers for targeting children.

Evesham township in NJ has resource officers in every school, Mr. Hornick should probably reach out to that superintended to ask how Evesham manages NOT to target black children and create a “school to prison” pipeline.
