As I drove passed a Cherry Hill elementary school last week, a sense of dread came over me when I stopped at the cross walk to let children pass. An adult was fussing with a child’s mask as the child resisted and kept pulling it down. Most of the children behind him donned masks, seemingly comfortably. The cross guard also donned a mask and a shield. Imagine a world where children as young as six years old are afraid to go outside for fear of a virus. We are here. Children have been conditioned to be fearful and compliant in anticipation of severe punishment if they do not comply. The psychological damage is devastating but the indoctrination has been acutely successful. Bow to government tyranny or suffer the consequences. This is the America we live in where the freedom so once cherished seems to be quickly dissipating in favor of security and those who want to be free are branded as dangerous radicals that must be silenced.
The image of masked children playing outdoors in school playgrounds is a permanent reminder of how insidious indoctrination and tyranny are. It occurs over time, bit by bit because with every new mandate, or law, we comply and before long we are in shackles. Hence, we wear the mask which is in reality a symbol of submission. For many parents, this is not okay. For many parents, the mask mandates, the vaccination requirements and all the conflicting medical recommendations have simply brought them to the brink of despair and concern for their children’s physical and psychological well-being.
Parents across our state and all over the country are at their wits’ end with the draconian rules that have destroyed the spirit of so many children due to the demands of remote learning and social isolation. Many parents, especially those with very young children, harbored growing resentment because they found themselves, practically overnight, with the unforeseen task of teaching. Moreover, parents became increasingly aware of the recent critical race theory initiatives many school districts have been implementing. Also know as CRT, this philosophy forces students to view social and cultural issues solely on the basis of racial identity.
Our government schools no longer care to focus on the values that make America a great and free country. Our government schools no longer focus on our unique constitutional rights. Our government schools advance an anti-America agenda that aims to engender a love of socialism. Is this what we want for our children-indoctrination instead of education? Could it be that homeschooling might end up being a practical solution that salvages our republic?
Given these scenarios over the last two years, thousands of parents began pulling their children out of these government schools and decided to homeschool. Presently, the total number of homeschooled children is approximately 5 million. According to US census data, about 11% of U.S households are homeschooling. In 2019-2020 school year, the number of homeschooled children was at just 5.4 percent. That is quite a jump.
Many parents who are considering homeschooling for a myriad of reasons have no idea where to start and the concept seems daunting, especially if they don’t have a background in teaching. However, thanks to so many new resources for parents, the prospect of homeschooling isn’t quite as elusive as once thought.
For those who are interested in exploring some options, a good place to start to learn more about homeschooling is to attend a free online summit sponsored by Homeschool Summits. The Homeschool of the Future takes place April 4-8, 2022 and you can register at https://homeschoolsummits.com/future/. In this summit, parents will discover how to implement educational strategies that embrace Christian teachings. The event will feature of 20 speakers from various organizations versed in the benefits and successes of homeschooling.
Another resource for New Jersey parents is the New Jersey Homeschool Moms site that will guide you on how to get started and offer various groups that you can connect with in your area. The resources will connect you with classes, arts, and sports gatherings in your county for all ages. You will also be guided on the homeschool requirements of the state. Another helpful resource for South Jersey parents that is chockfull of events and gatherings is The South Jersey Homeschool Association.
Many homeschoolers today were also once daunted by the prospect of this undertaking for their children, but with the right tools and the sense of community that has developed among fellow homeschoolers, the idea becomes much less burdensome.
Indeed, perhaps homeschooling may be the solution that saves our republic from the American left’s cultural and intellectual rot. Our children are the future and sadly our schools are teaching them to deride capitalism and elevate socialism which has failed every time it’s been tried. This is America and socialism has no place here. Children must learn about the values of limited government, individual rights and natural law. Imagine a world where this was once again the reigning theme! Let’s take America back! Homeschooling might just be our last hope!
