The level of gaslighting is at an all time high. You will have leftists accuse you of making education “political” and YOU need to keep politics out of education, however, according to the NJEA, “teaching IS political” and they have seminars to “organizing social change”. through the “Radical Pedagogy Institute.”
“In July 2022, the Radical Pedagogy Institute will host its second Summer Collaborative, Teaching is Political: Advocating and Organizing for Social Change. Twenty New Jersey area educators will be invited to gather for four days to research issues related to the current political landscape as it pertains to education (e.g., critical race theory bans, teacher shortage, trans sport bans, voter suppression), learn organizing strategies to fight injustice, and develop and receive feedback on plans to enact organizing strategies and take direct action to fight injustice in their local communities.”
There is a few amazing things about this seminar.
The teachers union finally recognized that activists are pushing pushing CRT (Critical Race Theory) in the public K-12 school system. Do you remember when they told you that CRT is not in your public school? HA HA silly goose.
They FINALLY admit that ideas like CRT, strategies to fight social justice, biological boys in girl’s sports are indeed political and its a teacher’s job to create a political environment for your community.
This political activism course counts as professional development for teachers. We are bringing politics into our public schools.
Our tax dollars are paying for this class. The schools pay for teacher development and they get their money through our property tax dollars.
And while we have given the green light for teachers to be political through courses taught and paid for by the school (aka your tax dollars), on the flip side, by law, the Board of Education CANNOT be political.
18A:12-24.1 Code of Ethics for School Board Members.
“f. I will refuse to surrender my independent judgment to special interest or partisan political groups or to use the schools for personal gain or for the gain of friends”
Where are these same code of ethics for teachers and for teacher training programs paid for by your tax dollars. If it isn’t clear to you by now, NJEA is a PAC (political action committee) that gives money to democratic candidates, which is funded by teacher salaries, and the money for salaries comes from your taxes. Then the NJEA creates teacher seminars which also carry out the agenda of the democratic party, creating political activists out of teachers who are educating your kids. The NJEA who is 100% political is currently in control of our schools with your tax dollars.
Who exactly is “The Radical Pedagogy Institute”? its a “collective of educators based in the greater New Jersey area (this includes NYC) who believe in the transformational power of radical pedagogy and local political organizing. But what exactly do we mean by radical pedagogy? Essentially, we view radical pedagogy as a pedagogy that uses tenets of critical pedagogies–-queer, anti-racist, DisCrit, culturally relevant, and other liberatory pedagogies–-to re/humanize educational experiences for all students.”
They are telling you what they are going to do right up front. Check out this twitter hashtag #teachingispolitical.
How about morality? Why aren't we allowed to voice what is obvious to all us parents, that the curriculums go against what is right. Relativism has normalized evil. If I say I don't want my child subjected to this indoctrination, I am labeled all sorts of words and the coversation is over. Censored. What truly loving parent would not accept a child that has been marginalized by society? We teach acceptance, not depravity.
