The "Right to Read" Explicit Sexual Material for Minors in North Hunterdon-Voorhees School District.”
Librarian Martha Hickson Fights to keep Porn in the School Library
Activists Descend on Elected Officials
Librarian Martha Hickson took it upon herself to engage students, parents, staff, teachers union, NJ ACLU and other activists to descend upon the NH-V (North Hunterdon-Voorhees) board of education meeting in January to ferociously fight for the kid’s “RIGHT TO READ.” For those who are not in the know, “RIGHT TO READ” is code for allowing kids to have access to porn, erotica, smut and obscenity in the school library. The aggressive group wore red to show their allegiance to the NH-V Intellectual Freedom Fighters, a group that the librarian founded. Other teachers and staff at NH-V made it clear that they were NOT part of that group and did not want the “freedom fighters” speaking for them. The odd part about the entire clown show was that there were no challenged books on the agenda for the board meeting and, in fact, not a single individual had raised any challenges for books to be considered for potential removal from the library shelves. What possessed her to assemble a confrontational group to exert pressure on the board of education to prevent book banning when that wasn’t even an issue?
The below download shows the level to which Martha organized this protest, giving detailed instructions on how to act, where to park and what to wear.
Let’s Talk About It
Sources say that Martha hit the panic button last November and began assembling her crew after she heard a brave father, Eric Licwinko, confidently present an example of the inappropriate sexual material in the library by reading passages from the book "Let's Talk about It" by Erika Moen to a room crowded with members of the Board of Education and staff.
The book just doesn’t have graphic images of people having sex, shoving buttplugs up their rectum and up close and personal images of how to masturbate, there also includes text that encourages kids to seek out porn and also provides “HOW TO instruction on”:
Inserting things into your rectum
Taking the right naked pictures for sexting
Where to find kink
Engaging strangers online for sex
All of these instructions can lead to serious problems, including spending some time in jail for child porn, evening emergency room visits for the items you shoved up your butthole, and a meet-up with the wrong online stranger who murders you and stuffs you in the back of his trunk. How often do we have to tell our children NOT to engage with anyone online, meanwhile this book is giving instructions encouraging kids to do the exact opposite.

What’s Eating Martha Hickson?
Martha is no stranger in controversy. In fact, she has won several awards in the past for her activism including the 2022 Lemony Snicket Prize for Noble Librarians Faced with Adversity in recognition of her “energy and bravery in the face of … persistent and ongoing hostility.” Her “work” has been featured in School Library Journal, Booklist, KnowledgeQuest, the American Library Association Intellectual Freedom Blog, NJEA Review, and School Librarian’s Workshop. She has been a presenter at conferences and webinars.
The books that Martha fights to keep in your child’s school library can’t be shared uncensored on Substack, Facebook, Youtube, or TikTok because you will get a strike or even be banned for sharing genitals, buttocks, showing or implying sexual activity, or showing female nipples, unless breastfeeding. Martha won an award for keeping “Fun Home” in the library. Here’s an censored excerpt below. Apparently providing kids with erotic images of oral sex is OK if its gay.
Martha has her own YouTube Channel where she cries about the pressures of trying to keep these sexual books for kids in the library. It brings on a lot of stress, but not enough stress to stop fighting with parents, BOE members and school staff. She even tells other activists how to combat the pressure by ENGAGING KIDS TO HELP THE FIGHT. That’s right. She is engaging with MINORS to fight against parents, staff and elected officials for her own personal crusade to keep books on kink, sexting, butt stuff, and GRAPHIC SEXUAL IMAGES within children’s reach.
The video is disturbing enough, but there is also a slide show “The Challenge of Book Challenges” which is a playbook on how to keep sexually explicit materials in your library, written by Martha Hickson and her librarian pals. Download below.
ACLU of NJ did a spotlight of Martha on November 2023 boasting about her network of “Freedom fighters” in North Hunterdon-Voorhees and claiming librarians are victims of “soft censorship” when they remove books from the library. Just maybe they had a struggle with their own conscious and decided that sharing the books that encourage minors to share naked pictures of themselves may not be the best for the kids, especially knowing that minors can face criminals charges for sexting.
She is currently running around doing the podcast and newspaper circuit trying to muster up positive influence for her cause. She will NEVER include the images and passages that parents are concerned about, a completely disingenuous way to engage the public.
Curious Coincidences Unfold
A bit too coincidental that Martha starts her shenanigans at the same time Senator Andrew Zwicker ( a champion of sex books for kids) proposes his “Right to Read” legislation. Not too shocking that Martha’s picture is right in that NJ Spotlight news article that Zwicker shared.
There’s Martha, right next to US Congressman Andy Kim. It’s all so coordinated and they don’t even try to hide it.
This is just so repulsive and disgusting. These people are predators prepping children for sexual abuse and exploitation. Nothing more, nothing less. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.
What a creepy woman. Her video should come with a warning that it may induce moderate to severe nausea.
Should we send these books to Andy Kim’s home so that his sons can enjoy them?
