In kindergarten through 12 you won’t be able to opt your child out of gender and sexual orientation. Public schools are permitted to tell your kindergartner that they may sometimes feel like a boy when they are actually a biological girl and there’s nothing you can do about it. At any time in K-12 they can talk to your kids about being heterosexual, homosexual or bisexual. It will be in every subject: History, language arts… even math.
You will have to trust that your child’s teacher doesn’t agree with discussing sexual orientation or gender orientation with the kids. You have to trust that your superintendent isn’t going to sneak it in curriculum.
I have no idea why the New Jersey department of education is going to the extreme to sexualize our children. Sex and gender is such a small part of the human experience. Children’s identity shouldn’t be sex focused. They shouldn’t feel pressure by middle school to join the LGBT club and define their gender and sexual preference. Buts its happening in some schools right now. You have to pay very close attention to what will happen in your school starting in September.
