Dead whales wash up on shore as turnbine construction begins
5

A disturbing numbers of dead whales have been washing up on the Jersey shore for the past month month.

Its no coincidence that the dead whales are appearing at the same time the offshore wind developers have been actively employing multiple geotechnical survey vessels off the coast of the New Jersey while waiting permit approvals for the largest wind farm project, costing about $10 billion taxpayer dollars.

This wind farm project is another Murphy decree without any meaningful public input from the citizens of New Jersey. The impacted cities and towns are denied the right to home rule by executive action of the Governor of New Jersey… Like he always does.

When completed, hundreds of 1,000-foot-tall wind turbine generators will be built in the ocean along with associated substations and thousands of miles of undersea cables, one of which will eventually run under Island Beach State Park and Barnegat Bay. Activist groups (Clean Ocean Action, Protect our Coast New Jersey, and Save LBI) have been fighting against the destruction of our coast with limited success. We need everyone to help protect our most precious natural resource from industrialization.

The latest whale deaths are just a preview of the possible irreversible ecological damage to the New Jersey marine environment, including the injury or death of thousands of marine species. The wind farms “are projected to reduce shore residents' property values, curtail tourism, severely affect the fishing, boating, and hospitality industries, greatly increase energy costs to New Jersey ratepayers, and provide no tangible benefits to the people of the State of New Jersey” as stated in the petition linked below.
