Facebook has turned into this weird dystopian platform where the FBI, the military and local police enforcement seek to shut down free speech to prevent parents from talking about what is happening in their schools. It was just a few months ago the North Hanover police shut down a mom’s Facebook post on behalf of concerns from the US military.
More recently, the Mayor of Edison, Sam Joshi, engaged lawyers from Connell Foley to send harsh cease and desist letters to parents about their Facebook comments in regards to the discussion of alleged sexual misconduct by the mayor. These accusations were publicly discussed in the township meeting as well as published in My Central Jersey and NJ.com.
The video above was taken at the Edison Township BOE meeting where shocking accusations of sexual misconduct were the hot topic of discussion. But can you continue this on Facebook? NO WAY! That’s got to get shut down!
The parents were having a discussion on the Edison NJ school District page, about the mayor’s repeated visits to Edison Schools in the wake of the accusations of alleged sexual misconduct. Of course this would be concerning to parents. This topic contributed to a very healthy and respectful debate as shown below. As for how heated Facebook conversations go, this was pretty mild. It makes no sense that the Mayor’s lawyers want to stop this conversation from existing.
