When I was at Americans for Prosperity-New Jersey, I used to present on the school funding formula. When I shared the details of how it worked, people's jaws would drop. Scores of towns across the state literally get next to nothing back for the income tax dollars they send to Trenton which comprise the majority of that pile of cash. Meanwhile, the poor districts understand how to game the system. By signing up as many kids as possible for the free/reduced price lunches, for example, it will result in more dollars flowing into the district. Same if the kids indicate English is their second language. Highway robbery isn't strong enough to describe it.
To fix our Education system we need leadership. With regard to Republican candidates, It 'looks like' the 'frontrunner' of the current Gubernatorial race, who 'seems' to have the 'edge', is an establishment Republican. Another candidate is connecting with 'other' establishment Republicans and is engaging the same game. Another candidate is for WeThePeople but it 'looks' like the campaign is not exactly gaining momentum, though still early. Another candidate just jumped in and supposedly has his own funding.
WeThePeople are looking for more. President Trump struck a nerve. We need more than people 'calculating' 'who can win', we are looking for a guy with proven performance of common sense actions on behalf of WeThePeople. Mike Doherty is the guy.
Not long ago, Mike Doherty was a Senator from 23rd Legislative District, made up of Warren County and most of Hunterdon County.
