Its 2023 people, so you’ve go to stop brandishing your government issued scamdemic slave mask at the doctor’s office. If you’ve had COVID more than once and still wear it, you have to ask yourself, ‘Why am I doing this?’
It never worked, it doesn’t work and it’s not going to work to prevent you from getting sick. This was confirmed in March 2021, when the results of the largest (3030 subjects) and ONLY randomized trial was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine. More recently, in January 2023, the Cochrane Library performed a meta analysis of 10 trials (276,917 subjects) that shows that there is little to no statistical evidence that masks prevent spread of viral respiratory illnesses.
So what are you doing? Why do you wear that mask? Ever?
The excuse that is “mandated” by the Governor Murphy has been not true since July 22, 2022. Governor Murphy’s order, Order No. 103, removed the blanket requirement to wear a mask.
Then there is the excuse that the CDC requires it, but that hasn’t been true since September 23, 2022. The CDC has made mask wearing a CHOICE, not a requirement, including in healthcare facilities.
“Source control”, AKA masks, are RECOMMENDED when community transmission is high. Not mandated, not required. They also recommend that the facility offer a mask if the patient’s mask is visibly soiled; no doubt there are medical facilities that choose to ignore that recommendation.
So why do you do it? Murphy doesn’t mandate it, the CDC does not mandate… you do it because you do what you are told?
I’m going to tell you why you do it. Its because you will follow ANY SOCIAL NORM that will save you the discomfort from being confronted. You are completely willing to give up your bodily autonomy so that you will not have feel social discomfort.
What are you willing to do to yourself and your family so that you do not have to feel social discomfort? Where is your line to invoke bodily autonomy and stand up for yourself? How far are you willing to let others push you into giving up the right to your body?
I don’t know about you, but I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees.
Let us give you 3 examples of how its done.
My Story
On January 19th 2023, I called Larchmont Imaging in Mt. Laurel to let them know that I cannot wear a mask due to a rare medical disorder, which causes dermatographia. Basically, the pressure, rubbing and heat from wearing the fabric mask will cause itchy hives that may remain on my face for more than 24 hours, well after I take off the mask. The woman on the phone said it was no problem and to come in. When I got there, I got a huge hassle from the staff, who ended up sending me to the office manager in the back. It seemed like they wouldn’t be happy until they gave me hives.
I told her that I pre-called and they said a note wasn’t necessary, but now she wants a written note. Under ADA law (Americans with Disabilities Act) , I do not need a written note for my EMPLOYER. The law doesn’t cover pushy medical facilites that don’t want to honor the Patient Bill of Rights and my right to refuse a treatment choice (masks).
The office manager in Mt. Laurel tried to lie to me about the “Governor mandate” and the “CDC mandate”, and I’m not sure if she was ignorant or lying, but neither excuse is acceptable to me. She acted that my claim of “no mandate” was news to her. I was so angry, I was texting a lawyer friend during this ridiculous argument who texted “Say your lawyer said there is no mandate.” The manager and I were going back and forth on the current law and the science. She cited every silly excuse on social media that is pro-mask, which I debunked. The whole argument was dimwitted and, quite frankly, beneath both of us to engage in this debate over what I will and won’t do to my body. I gave the nurse person permission to call my doctor to PROVE that I had a medical issue, which I didn’t need to. They couldn’t get a hold of him. Finally, she claimed that without a mask, if I go into a small room to get an MRI on my KNEE, I will leave COVID there for the next person, so I wouldn’t be permitted in the small room, by myself to get an MRI.
I was done arguing. I asked her for a letter stating that she was denying service because I was medically unable to wear a mask. She said she wouldn’t do that and also didn’t want to have to call the police on me.
Infuriated. I said “Fine. I will sit in the waiting room and I will only leave your facility under any of the 3 conditions. Option 1- I will leave with the MRI CD for my knee. Option 2- you can provide me a note that says you are denying service for my disability. Option 3- call the police to drag me out of your facility, which I will record. I have all day and I only have this on my schedule.”
I calmly walked back to sit in the waiting room preparing for my old fashioned sit-in, then texted my husband to alert him to be prepared with bail money because my next call may be from Mt. Laurel police station.
Just by sitting there quietly unmasked, I caused a mini revolt in the waiting room. Some of the patients decided to start chin strapping it. One other patient began arguing with the office staff about wearing a mask then pointed at me and bellowed “She’s not wearing a mask!!
Let’s fast forward to the final result of my MRI experience:
They went with option 1.
Mike’s Story
Last week, I sat in a major healthcare facility without a mask for a few minutes before the receptionist told me I must wear one. The staff didn’t like the discussion that ensued when I explained why still requiring masks is unscientific and unethical. Of course I know that people in higher places set the policies, but I figure causing a minor scene wherever masks are still mandated will help the greater cause. Perhaps more people will observe and think, “So, I’m not the only one who knows this is political bullshit?”
The receptionist told me I could bring a chair in the hallway (15 feet away in the connected open space) to sit maskless, as if that would prevent my exhaled air from reaching anyone.
I wish more people understood that the main issue is not the trivial inconvenience of wearing a useless mask to healthcare appointments. Rather, it’s allowing our institutions (worse yet, government) to exert arbitrary authoritarian rule over our bodies and lives.
JV Moonbeam’s Story
On March 17th, 2023, I walk into a medical care facility and the receptionist hands me a mask and states “You need a mask, its our policy.”
I replied “No Thank-you, I don’t want one and I’m not wearing it.”
“You have to.”
“NO. I don’t.” I insisted, “There is no mandate. It was dropped in all medical settings in September as per the CDC and Governor Phil Murphy.”
“OK. I have to ask.”
“Go ahead.”
Next thing I know, I am called to the back by the nurse, like nothing ever happened, I carry on at my visit, unmasked.
I go back to this facility a second time, confronted by a different gate-keeping receptionist, whom I have never seen before, and she goes hard core right at me, “You need a mask.”
“No, I don’t. And your nose is hanging out of your mask. Don’t tell me I need to wear a mask when you aren’t even wearing yours properly.”
We go back and forth arguing until she starts physically shaking with anger that I am refusing her order. Finally she stands up and storms away to talk to the nurses about “the patient not following protocol.”
The nurses seem to be less interested in forcing me to wear a mask. She walks back to me, shoving a mask at me and says, ”I’m sorry but there is a protocol that I have to follow.”
I take the mask and crushed it in my fist right in front of her. I was NOT wearing that mask.
Coming in on my 4th visit I wondered what type of hostility I was walking into for my mask refusal. I shouldn’t have to deal with this. No one should have to deal with this. I can’t believe I would have to go through this AGAIN, but i’m a stubborn person. I’ve fought the receptionists in the past two appointments over wearing a mask and won both times.
The hostile receptionist was there today and knew the deal. I didn’t even have to say a word.
What is your story?
As a nurse I usually can get away with it by questioning them on their knowledge and educating them on all they don’t know. However I think it should say something about a facility or provider if they choose to still mandate masks then they obviously are not up to date on evidence based medicine and should be called out on it. Oh, you mean you aren’t following the latest science? Well I don’t want to be treated here since who knows what else you get wrong. I need to add this place to my list of practices/facilities to avoid for patients who want the best possible outcomes with healthcare providers who make it a point to stay up to date on all the latest research and implement changes as the evidence comes in, not waiting to be told and letting patients be mistreated with old or junk science in the meantime.
The masking is ridiculous, we all know the office staff don't wear their masks when they are out shopping (or at least most of them) so they are all going with the flow. I haven't been to the drs in years now because I can't control my reaction to being told to wear a mask. I need to figure it out and the rest of us need to so what you guys are doing so we can end this idiotic masking
