This was an excellent article. Some schools have their library catalogs online. This makes it much easier to check your local school's library book inventory. The American Library Association (ALA) lists the most challenged books (they do everything possible to encourage authors to push the boundaries). Check to see if these books are in your School's Library. Amazon also has a "look inside" feature that allows you to view previews of books and do text searches.

Although it pained me to do it, I have bought a couple of the newer graphic novels so that I can show people what I am talking about. Everybody in my woke world is just spouting the party line- "The Republicans want to ban books! " It is infuriating. The really scary part is that some parents who see this stuff think it is perfectly fine if not dandy! Another mom told me she wants her 12 year old to read about transgender people so she can understand them. The Bluest Eye is actually a great book but entirely inappropriate for kids. There are some disturbing books that are still literature that one should not expose children to. You shouldn't be reading Sophie's Choice when you're 12 but 18, sure. I remember not being allowed (by my mom)to read The Color Purple. It seems people have absolutely lost their common sense. Gender Queer and some of the newer ones are absolute trash but I agree with you- fine, get it yourself, but not at school. Your analogy to alcohol is perfect.

I get it. I grew up in a very liberal area (Union County) and most of my friends and family are very liberal and many are "woke". I am not a prude, far from it, but this is pretty cut and dry to me. I have to hope many people are just ignorant to the images or content of the books themselves.

I'm now a thriver after enduring the horror of nightly sexual abuse by my father. How in the world can you say Bluest Eyes is a great book for anyone? There is an exception. It's a great book for anyone who wants to rape his daughters.

I agree with this. I cannot understand how anyone can read this. I Think of the kids who were forced to read this who may have been abused. That would certainly throw some kids right over the edge.

We know they care not.

I was abused by my father from a toddler to 12. These books are from Satan himself.

I am so sorry. I read this book decades ago and I would not say that I enjoyed it, all of Toni Morrison's literature is tough to read and deals with difficult topics. I will re-examine this opinion. I do think there are many difficult scenes in literature that when taken out of context are highly disturbing but may have literary merit. But, It has been a long time since I read this book so I probably should not have even said that. I am sorry and truly, I will re-think this. I would certainly NEVER want my child or teenager to read it.

Thank you for your time. The one excerpt was dreadful. If it triggers an adult, how much more so for a child in the same situation. Bless you.

Oh yes, I absolutely agree. I read her works in college and later.

Well said. Thank you for valiantly continuing to share truth and logical thinking. They’re trying to destabilize our innocent children. It’s a sickening agenda.

Is there a list of these books, I've been trying to write down titles when these stories come out but I'd like to ask our BOE specifically for these obscene porn ones and remind them it's against federal law to distribute graphic porn in pictures or written text to under age 18. If there is a list would be good to specifically ask

There is no list. You have to find out from other people and school districts where parents raised concerns about books in their school and search your school's database to see if they have them in your child's school. Search online and you can find many books that contain age-inappropriate content for a public school.

Ok thank you,I've been trying to accumulate so I can ask specifically if they are there. I'll see if there is an online database for the school.

Pornography is not protected speech and no library has ever won a case maintaining it is. Pornography directed towards and given to children is CRIMINAL under US Code and every state in the Union. See this parents group in NY State that is suing the school board's insurance bond provider for endangering children and violating Federal and State law by providing these exact books school libraries. Excellent article and you brought out an important point that can be easily missed which is that the powers that be are trying to create division. This content does not belong in schools period and I feel that it serves no purpose for anyone at all. Parents are capable of discussing sexual topics with their children. There is a reason families would not allow these books into their homes and kids are not stupid- they know why. There is a healthy and beautiful way to understand this topic but the school system has detached it from nature and turned it into something that is to be taken from someone else. The current system cannot thrive this way and eventually will die, but how many innocent children will have suffered under the hands of these soulless monsters?
