Kristen’s Action Advice
We have been challenging you all to advocate, for just your child, in your own way.
It’s time all of our children are given their choice again. Time’s up for the fear-based news reporting, and we must demand our leadership acknowledge the evidence now supports the failure of masking, lockdowns and quarantines. No longer should we consent to the arbitrary and capricious rule by mandate by ruler who refuse to respond to the governed.
The State has an obligation to provide you with a free and appropriate public education for your individual child. Do you feel the State is meeting that duty? Your Board of Education, have they listened to you? The Legislature or Governor’s Office? Departments of Health and Education?
We talked, but few in power listened. We built a coalition, we connected our members and school board candidates with candidates for higher office. We shouted out our member candidates on radio. We went to meeting after meeting. Caitlin drove across the State to connect parents with signs, and is now helping the CAC members learn about pod and homeschool options. We gave radio, TV and news media interviews.

We tracked our progress, and there was hope! Many Districts were creating plans that permitted parental choice. Unsurprisingly, most of the Districts were located in “red” towns. Still, there were signs of progress in many blue towns.
You know, I attended a meeting in Parsippany-Troy Hills (Morris County). I was advised that Morris County had the highest vaccination rate in the State
Yet after the passionate, intelligent and persuasive comment closed, one Board member used that opportunity to describe being asked to wear a mask in a retail store that day, and that sometimes in life, you just have to do what you’re told.
My communism radar went code red. Do what you are told, peasants, if you want your “free” education in this building. Do what you are told, or fend for yourself.
Wrong. I don’t raise my sons to blindly obey. I’m betting if you are reading this, you don’t raise your babies to be silent victims either
The heat from our movement grew too powerful. Governor Murphy washed away all the sands of change we had made in one wave. He made an aggressive move, and put our Districts in check with his latest mandate.
So what’s the next move? Well, I gave you a top 10 list. I shared our sample demand letter drafted primarily by CAC Member Shana Frondorf (also a BOE candidate!).
So what’s left? How do we escape the check?
It’s time to call in the heaviest of all hitters.
Go to the meetings. Tell the Boards of Education: Step up, unify with other BOEs and defy the mandate, or step down. We will take your seats if you lack the courage.
BOEs need to form a coalition and represent their constituents, their true customers: the parents and children. If they refuse to advocate for us, they must resign immediately.
Don’t allow them to rely on a fear of lack of funding. Tell them to reject the ESSR funds, and not to sell our children’s faces to special interests waiting to gobble up the Federal bribery funds.
Tell them to contact us. Tell them to join our coalition and we will seek the helpers, the lawyers, and the funding and the political support to make the big move.
The answer is always local. Our schools are guided by a concept of New Jersey’s preference for “home rule”. Even in legislative testimony, we have heard it reiterated that the Boards of Education have the final say in how School return plans may be made.
So ask the hard questions, locally-why, more mandates masking? Why take the federal bribe? Did we need that money? What strings are attached?
If the BOEs are no longer honoring home rule, maybe we can just centralize and fire all the superintendents, principals...I am sure they don’t want to go down that road.
So before we withdraw, before we have to consider our own legal options, let’s challenge these BOEs to step up to the plate.
We have many more moves to make.
Nik’s Alternative
F*ck these schools. Yes, I said it. Someone had to.
If you are finished getting jerked around, its time to find alternative education. I say, “hit them in the wallet.”
I’m NOT telling you to stop fighting with your district for your free and adequate public education, however, if you are having sleepless nights about how your kid will deal with a mask 5 days a week 6-9 hours a day for 180 days then you need to seek something else to ease your mind. Here are some alternatives:
Homeschool - Believe it our not, home school is quite easy these days because it is done online with a program that spells it all out for you. Its organized and requires minimal work from yourself depending on the age of your child.
Co Ops - You WILL find a network of families that will homeschool together. Currently we have 3000 members of the Child Advocate Coalition like yourself looking to connect with other parents all over NJ. You have to make sure you read our emails because we have more information coming soon.
Pods - You can find a space, hire an tutor/teacher and let them drive the curriculum. We currently have pod forming in 2 counties, if you have already have signed up on our form then you are setup. We just need a week to get organized. If you are interested in setting up a pod yourself and need an educator, send me an email.
Keep this in mind, you will NOT screw up your kid’s education as much as the public school did these past 18 months. You are going to do GREAT!
On Thursday 8/10 we will have a zoom meeting set up to discuss home school options by actual teachers and homeschoolers that have already done the research for you.
But wait, that’s not all…
For all the parents choosing alternative education, we will put together state wide events for our kids to keep us bonded and to keep our kids socialized.
You are not alone. There are 3000 of you reading this. Unfortunately our zoom only holds only 100 people. So its going to be first come first serve basis. DO not fret, there will be MULTIPLE meetings and we will video the zoom and send them out on this platform so that you can watch.
Just remember, 1 thing, you are not alone, we have each other.
We always could use more people. Please SHARE SHARE SHARE this email.
